The O’Carolan Trio are masters of performing the music and telling the story of Ireland’s best known and internationally renowned composer,

Turlough O’Carolan (1670 – 1738). Having grown up beside the last resting place of the blind bard near Keadue, Co. Roscommon, they love sharing his music, history and legends.

The wire-strung harper is one of Ireland’s greatest composers and his music has been performed, recorded and arranged by musicians all

over the world from many different musical backgrounds including classical, jazz and folk / traditional.

Although he travelled widely throughout Ireland, the North-West was his main region, especially counties Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo. He

returned to his spiritual home of Alderford House, Ballyfarnon, Co.Roscommon in March, 1738, and his remains are resting in the ruins of Kilronan Abbey on the shore of Lough Meelagh.

The O’Carolan Trio was established to perform and promote his music, history and stories and features Ellen Godley (cello, concertina),

Mossie Martin (fiddle, whistle) and Fiachra Guihen (harp, flute). Equally at home in intimate spaces, ecclesiastical settings or festival stages, The

O’Carolan Trio will transport the listener to Ireland during the 17 th and 18 the centuries when Ireland’s national symbol was the predominant

instrument.
